Ms RUKIA HATIBU

Rukia Hatibu has more than four years of experience in educational and cultural program management. Currently, she is head of the Science-In-To-Use (SITU) Department at AfricAcademy Arusha Science School, which aims to build young people’s confidence and competence in STEM through project-based learning approaches. Since SITU’s launch in 2020, Rukia has successfully coordinated STEM workshops in Robotics, 3D printing, Extended Realities (AR and VR), and computer programming for students across Tanzania’s Arusha Region, and has overseen numerous student projects resulting in regional, national, and international competition victories. She spearheaded the first solar car project completed by high school students in the country and is currently working on using Artificial Intelligence to bring quality, affordable, and exciting STEM books to primary school kids. In her department, Rukia oversees confidence-building and soft skills training, including sessions on professional presentation and communication, design and critical thinking, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship. A TEDx speaker, Rukia is committed to emphasizing the importance of creativity and hands-on learning to better prepare competent Tanzanian youth for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
